Flare99
This was a brand mark design and style manual (including sample brand application) for a company called Flare99. They produce skateboards featuring unique Australian street art.
Flare 99 run competitions for aspiring artists and can also produce one off unique board art according to customer requirements.
They also hold regular art exhibitions showcasing their work. The brand values I developed were: Artistic, Innovative , Unique/Personal, Customised and Worn. I took many photos of graffiti and stencil art in order to develop 50 rough concepts for the mark.
The final mark is a skateboard with wings. The type and mark were photocopied and re-traced several times to get the rough edges and develop a worn aesthetic. The mark is placed on an angle to represent a stencil, that doesn’t have to be exactly up-right.
The colours were inspired by worn wall art that usually uses bright strong colours but tends to fade with weathering.
